Okahandja is a town with 21000 inhabitants in the Geographic centre of Namibia. Until today it is the most important traditional center of the Herero people. The fact that this town is a small business centre, it attracts many jobless and sick people in the hope of a better future.

Our Representative in Namibia, Mara Baumgartner takes care of pupils (school children) in Okahandja to grant them an optimal chance for the future.
We use donations for School fees, books and food parcels. To ensure that it will be an ongoing process Mara Baumgartner makes sure that these donations to the families should not be seen as begging, but rather as a give and take situation, a deal between us and them to make sure the children attend school regularly and the parents, especially the Mothers who are mostly infected with the HIV virus, go for regular medical check ups. This makes it a win, win situation where all are benefitting and the end result is good.
